SEO & Expert Keyword Phrases

Today I talk about expert status, Google and how you show up in search results. In my new book Search Profits, which will be available soon, we talk about solving problems for people instead of search engines.

If you solve problems for people, you’re going to be getting more traffic and more referrals to your website. With Google analytics, they’re going to be seen by Google. That is, they’ll see how long people are spending on your site and that they’re doing and that they’re not leaving quickly. If you’re actually solving their problems, then more people go to your site and more importantly, Google will see that your site is solving their problems and will give you preference in search results. Right?

Think about this for a second. If people go to your site and they leave right away, then they’re not finding what they’re looking for. And that sends a signal to Google that you were the wrong listing to provide as the answer to their question or their, the search result, right?

To me, that’s the preferred method is solve people’s problems and show up in search results. 1) Send people to your site and then 2) let Google naturally see that you’re that you’re providing the answers they need.

But if you don’t yet have a lot of traffic to your site and you’re just getting started, you want to know how do you get your page to show up in Google?

The reality is Google knows what search terms the professionals in your industry are using. In order for Google to classify you as an expert, they’re going to be looking for how you use these expert terms in your own content.

A great way for you to find out what Google (and people) are looking for is actually in the search results themselves. So if you go to Google and you search for a main keyword that’s in your industry, you’re going to see everybody else’s search results and who’s ranking in the top 10.

Look at their content and see what Google is currently giving preference to, right? But also scroll down to the very bottom of the page and you’ll see what’s called “related searches”. In the related searches, you’ll see about 8 different suggestions. And these are the questions that people are actually asking in relation to the term or keyword that you were searching for

So that itself can be a great free resource for figuring out what content to create and how to get more people to your site. Answer the questions in your own words in the content on your site and show Google that you have expert authority in that subject.
